Sami Jarudi

 

President – Sami Jaroudi, CCP

Sami Jaroudi has over 25+ years of experience in Project Controls Management, Systems, and Processes applications with major industrial capital projects for both government agencies and in the private sector. In his career, he has worked as a field engineer, cost engineer, scheduler, project engineer, project controls manager, and a Cost system administrator of project controls for major EPC firms. Projects include Power Plants, Waste to Energy Processing facilities, Chemical Plants, FPSO, Drilling Platforms, NASA International Space Station, including a recent engagement at a defense contractor in the UK – currently a Project Control Manager for Systems and Processes (Global Project Controls Support) at Jacobs.

Vice President – Yemi Ibiyemi, MBA

Yemi is our newest member of the HGCS Board of Directors and an active member of the Organization. He is a young Project Services Professional who holds a double MBA from Sam Houston State University. He has five plus years’ experience in providing project support to multi-functional project teams. He is a Project Controls enthusiast who actively strives to expand his Project Services knowledge and contributions. Yemi hopes to use his participation in the Organization and his mastery of Project Controls to fuel the next generation of Project Controls Professionals worldwide.

Secretary – Julianne Richards

Julianne Richards is a Project Scheduler for Columbia Pipeline Group. She holds a BBA from the University of Houston. Julianne has past experience as a Project Controls Support Analyst where she gained experience in risk management, scheduling, cost control, and reporting. This foundation has allowed her to apply her knowledge and skills to her current role of supporting midstream and IT projects. Julianne is a new Director on the AACE Board, after having joined in 2014 and she is looking forward to great accomplishments with the Houston Gulf Coast Section.

Treasurer – Valerie Venters, CCP, PMP

Valerie Venters has over 25 years of experience in Project Controls. Her primary focus has been Cost Management. Currently, she is working for Shell International Exploration and Production Inc. in the Project & Technology (P&T) Project Services group as the Cost Lead on one of Shell’s mega projects. Valerie joined AACE in 1997 and has been very active on both the local section level (HGCS), as well as the International level.

 

 

 

Past President – Josh Rowan, PMP, CCP, MRICS

Josh Rowan is a Chartered Quantity Surveyor with over fifteen years’ experience implementing project control solutions for capital projects in the oil & gas industry and military infrastructure programs. Oil & Gas industry assignments include both EPC and Owner/Operator in the upstream, midstream, and downstream sectors. Josh is adept at blending strategic thinking with hands-on project controls implementation.  Expertise includes:

  • Business case formulation and benchmarking, concept/design optimization, economic evaluation
  • Development of business management processes
  • Scope development for major contracts
  • Planning, Cost Engineering, Estimate Assurance and Risk Management

He is active in the Association for the Advancement of Cost Engineering International (AACE), Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) and participated in the Performance Forum, Global Upstream Cost Engineering Network, and Upstream Cost Engineering Committee.  Josh earned a BS (Texas A&M University) and MBA – Finance (University of St Thomas).  He previously served in the US Army where he was awarded the Bronze Star for work in Baghdad, Iraq.

Director – Matthew C. Baker, CCP

Matthew Baker works for the deepwater exploration and production business unit of a major independent oil company as a project Cost Engineering Advisor (CEA). His key roles are leading the coordination of project team communications and reporting requirements for the leadership team, decision review boards, corporate, and external co-owners as well as assisting the team with the development and maintenance of various cost engineering deliverables. Matthew recently transitioned from a gas and midstream business unit of the same major IOC where he worked as a CEA on a portfolio of onshore pipeline and facility projects. Before that, he worked for a small industrial construction contractor on several downstream capital projects and turnarounds. He is a Certified Cost Professional (CCP), has published and presented several technical papers for AACE and recently served as the President of the Houston Gulf Coast Section of AACE International. He is a graduate of Texas A&M University and is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Construction Management at the University of Houston. He currently lives in Humble, TX with his wife and 5-year-old son.

Director – James Arrow, DRMP FRICS MoRP

James Arrow is a Project Management professional with more than 20 years of professional experience. He has a broad range of Industrial/Commercial Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) experience, successfully delivering projects across a broad range of market sectors that include oil and gas, power generation, government operations and IT Program Management.

James has experience assessing complex systems, plans, budgets, schedules and procedures to ensure compliance, including the development of improvement plans to overcome gaps or deficiencies. He also has experience working directly with all parties, up and down, the contractual chain to ensure effective contract administration, frequently synthesizing performance data for presentation and making recommendations to executive leaders.

James earned a BSc (Hons) in Quantity Surveying from Nottingham Trent University. He is both a certified Decision and Risk Management Professional (DRMP) and Management of Risk Practitioner (MoRP). In addition, and in recognition of his thought leadership within the Project Risk Management profession, he has been designated a fellow of the RICS (FRICS). Further, he also holds a certificate from the Thunderbird School of Global Management, for completing the Advanced Management Program for Oil & Gas Executives.

Currently, he is working as a management consultant for Booz Allen Hamilton, Strategic Innovation Group.

 

 

 

Director – Trey Seabrook, CCP

Trey is a Project Controls Advisor with Chevron Corporation with over 30 years of experience in project cost & schedule control and construction management, including 25 years in petroleum facility development on domestic and international projects. He has been a member of AACE since 1996 and a Certified Cost Professional since 2002.

Director Carole Venters. CCP, EVP

Carole Venters is a Project Controls Manager at Jacobs Engineering in Houston. She has 30 years of experience in various roles relating to Project Controls and holds both CCP (Certified Cost Professional) and EVP (Earned Value Professional) certifications from AACE International. She has worked for several major EPC firms on projects related to Oil & Gas (both Upstream and Downstream), Power Plants, Mining & Metals, and Food & Beverage. Along with in-house Cost Management, Carole’s experience includes field/site work during her assignments at the Coors Brewery and the Suncor Refinery. She has contributed to and assisted in writing system specifications for Jacob’s current Project Controls software and spent two years traveling to various office in both the US and Europe performing on-site training for Users and Superusers. Carole feels her best asset is the ability to see both the “trees as well as the forest” when it comes to project controls; seeing both the details and how they fit into the bigger picture allows her to analyze and track the details while reporting and communicating the big picture results to project management.

Director – Brian Bedingfield

Brian Bedingfield is a Senior Project Controls Lead at Columbia Pipeline Group (CPG). He received a BBA from Texas State University. Having been involved in a project’s complete cycle from conception to closeout, Brian has a firm grasp on what can make or break a project. Brian has held multiple project roles starting as a Cost Analyst to Scheduler and now a Senior Project Controls Lead. He has applied his knowledge and skills from past experiences to his current role. Brian is a new member of the AACE Board of Directors, having joined in 2014. He is looking forward to the coming years and is excited to what is in store for the Houston Gulf Coast Section.

 

 

 

Director – Shane Butt

Shane Butt has been actively involved with AACE since moving to Houston in 2012. Shane is the Vice President Enterprise Systems at Omega Project Solutions and also the product manager for Pims Contract Management. Prior to transferring to the US, Shane ran Omega’s operations in Australia.

Shane is looking to be even more involved with AACE, especially within the Houston Gulf Coast section.

Shane holds an Electrical Engineering degree from the University of Western Australia in addition to that, he has been involved in the software development business for over 30 years. At Omega, Shane is responsible for the Pims software suite.

 

 

 

Director – Ernesto Munoz

Ernesto has 17 years of project controls experience in the upstream and downstream sectors of the energy industry. His last 6 years have been spent with Rider Hunt International as a Quantity Surveyor working on projects for various clients performing Tender assistance, Quantity & Progress validations, Preamble development, Schedules of Rates (SoR) and Bills of Quantities (BoQ) in Houston and on-site locations and has experience with all disciplines. Previously, he worked on-site with Offshore Fabrication and Petrochemical Industries for a number of clients and projects as an Estimator, Cost Controller, Planner and Construction Work Package department supervisor. He has assisted in program development for fabrication progress, traceability, and productivity evaluation. Project concept experience consists of Hulls, Topsides, Offshore & Onshore Modules, LNG facilities, and Petrochemical facilities. He holds a BS in Industrial Technology from Texas A&M Kingsville and has been a member of AACE since 2015.

Martin Darley is immediate Past President and Vice President of Education of AACE international. He is Certified Cost Professional (CCP), and Fellow of Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (FRICS), and works as CEPS (Cost Engineering and Project Services) Manager for Chevron
